Words to live by:

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.  Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty,  “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

Candle light Communion Service

Candlelight communion will take place on  Thursday, December 24th.at 6:00 p.m.  This is a great family tradition with special music, a great message and a time to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.  Invite family members who may be visiting with you to come and share in this joyous time with you.

Angel Tree

Our Angel Tree will be up and ready on  Sunday, December 6th.  We will be helping some families from our local schools again this year.  Please, please, please make sure you write down your name next to the corresponding angel on your tag on the list on the bulletin board.  The angel tags then go on the outside of your wrapped gift.  There will be a sign up sheet for food needed to send with each family receiving gifts from us this year also.  We were able to pack up some great Thanksgiving baskets and prayerfully we can do the same for Christmas

Weigh Down Workshop

We are starting a new bible study beginning Wednesday, November 25th at 9:00 a.m.  In the church library. (Yes that is right, the Wednesday BEFORE Thanksgiving)!  What are we studying?  What does God’s word say about Dieting, Food and our relationship to Him!  Each class will run about an hour and a half to two hours, with discussion.  It will last approximately 12 weeks.  If you choose to be weighed, you may and it will be recorded privately, and tracked by one person.. But this is   OPTIONAL!!!  Not a requirement to study God’s word on this subject.  This study is based on the “Weigh Down Workshop” by Gwen Shamblins.  If you have children and no sitter please let me know,  if there is interest enough, we will look into providing onsite child care.  Questions?  Feel free to contact Sheri Bromley 269-208-0311

Society Meeting

Our next Society meeting will be on Sunday December 6th following the morning worship.  We will be voting on the budget for next year.  If you are a member please plan to attend this meeting.

Pastor’s Corner

On your mark get set GO!!  Thanksgiving is here and Christmas is just days away.  I know some people have some or even all  their Christmas shopping done.  Not me, I haven’t even started to think about what I am going to get for my family and friends this year, or even thought about what I should put on my Christmas list.

What would be the perfect gift this year?  What could I find in the mall, at the store or on the internet/e-bay that would bring a smile and Christmas joy to my family?  What is it that would delight and warm the hearts of my family and friends?  What kind of gift would reflect the Christmas morning?

The first Christmas morning the only gift that was given was the birth of Jesus.  The Magi came some time later with their gifts of gold, incense and myrrh.  The shepherds came and visited that first night but no gifts were given.  So how do we draw the conclusion that Christmas is about giving?  God gave his son Jesus.  Joseph gave Mary a second chance, after all she was with child, and it wasn’t his.  How do you explain that to your family and neighbors?

It was a good thing that the “Angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream” (Matthew 1:20) telling him “Do not be afraid to take Mary to be your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.”

Don’t you wish an angel or the Holy Spirit would show up today and tell you ”Do not be afraid”?  I know God has the perfect gift all picked out for you this year.  The gift of FORGIVENESS, the gift of HIS presence, the gift of JESUS is all for you.

Give the gift of forgiveness to someone you love or hate and let this Christmas season be the best Christmas ever.  But don’t wait until Christmas, you can give that gift today and it’s ok...

From Pastor Matt

I want to start by thanking you all for the wonderful cards, thoughts, gifts and prayers during Pastor Appreciation Month.  You made Chrystal and me so happy to see how much you care about us.

Now getting down to the youth news.  Over the next few months we are going to be busy with some fun activities and also spending time with God.  Tonight we are having our Teen Thanksgiving Dinner where all the teens bring a dish to pass and I deep fry a turkey for them and the leaders of the group.  December 13th we are having a Christmas shopping trip to the Kalamazoo Mall so that the teens can finish up the shopping for their family and friends and get out and have some fun with it.  The Progressive Dinner is on the 20th which allows the teens to meet people from the church that they would not usually meet.  For New Year’s we are planning an over-nighter to Kalamazoo to be with over 300 teenagers for a night of fun and fellowship.

Living Water Food Pantry

Wow what a 10 month period we have been through so far!

We are about to enter what we think will be our busiest time

yet and at this writing we have had  about 725 different

families through our doors.  With upcoming food drives in the

area we are praying that much additional food will be available

for our pantry.  We have already gotten the commitment of

North Elementary school to receive  all the food they

collected. They dropped off 2 truck loads of foods and over

$250 for us to use. What an awesome blessing  to our pantry.

W e currently purchase about $200 a week of food from Gleaners which weighs in from 1500-2000 lbs. per week.  We are averaging about 100-110 families per week and about 10 new families sign up each week.

   We are always

looking for new ways to feed more than just the physical

needs of these families, but sometimes find ourselves

overwhelmed with the amount of need there is in ours and

surrounding communities.  If you find yourself with nothing to

do on a Monday or Thursday in the coming weeks please stop

by.  We can always use shelf stockers, food separators, data

recorders, or just another friendly smile.  Whatever your gift we

will find a place to use you.

Senior Open House

Sunday afternoon , December 6th from 3:00-5:00 come

and enjoy a Christmas time together with others at the

Pastor’s house.  We truly enjoy the Christmas time

together each year and this year is no exception.

Please plan to spend this time with us celebrating the

coming of our Lord Jesus Christ… Sharing food,

fellowship and singing.
